Person should complete his physical check-up, diagnostic testing, consultation with spine surgeon and brace fitting before spine surgery. One day before spine surgery, patient should do skin and bowel cleansing and should follow diet restrictions.
Some of the spine surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis and do not require hospital stay. While other spine surgeries require hospital stay. The hospital stay depends on certain factors i.e. pain management, tolerance of activity and an understanding of discharge teaching.
Normally, first follow-up is carried out after 6 weeks. Next follow-up is determined based on first visit after surgery. Sometimes follow-up is carried out for a year at an intervals-of-time.
After 1-2 weeks of surgery, the patient is called for the removal of sutures or staples. Then the surgeon can tell you about returning to normal life. Like work, exercise, driving and sexual activities. The recovery time depends on type of surgery performed.

In order to remove tumour from brain, neurosurgeon creates opening in the skull. It is known as craniotomy. Then surgeon removes tumour completely, without damaging vital tissues of brain. Sometimes, if it is not possible to remove brain tissue completely, the surgeon removes maximum possible tumour.
